Milorad Čavić was born on May 31, 1984 in the United States, in the city of Anaheim, California. He reveived his MA in Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley in 2007, when he was 23. He is a member of the swimming club "Partizan". He is a great fan of team sports: handball, voleyball, basketball and soccer, and when he is in Belgrade as its fan goes to watch games of the basketball club "Partizan" at the "Pionir". When he earned double medals in the European junior championship, much was expected from him in future.
From December 12, 2003 until March, 26 2004 he was the world recorder (50.02 s) in 100 m butterfly in short-course championship. He set that record at the European Championship in Dublin and it is still considered as the world record. He also won a silver medal in 50 m freestyle at the Championship in Dublin.
In march, 2006 because of his health problems he was very close to give up the professional swimming, but he was back and he managed to defend his title in 100 m butterfly in Helsinki and the second place in 50 m freestyle race.
At the following Championship in Debrecen, in December 2007, he defended the title of the European champion also in 100 m butterfly discipline, finishing at 50.53 seconds. At the same competition he won gold in 50 m butterfly discipline, with the result of 22.89 seconds.
At the European championship in Eindhoven, in March, 2008 Cavic won the world record in 50 m freestyle discipline with the result of 23.11 seconds, and it is the second best world result of all times. The gold medal from Eindhoven was his third gold medal.
The last Cavic’s success was in Rijeka in 2008, where he won gold medal in 100 m , finishing at 49,19 seconds and hence he set a new European record, and also silver medal in 50 m in short-course with the result of 22,36 seconds.
After the preliminary race in 100 m butterfly in 2008 at the Beijing Olympic Games , he sat new world record and was one step close to the Olympic gold. However, in the end he finished the race as the second, behind Michael Phelps. There was much controversy over Phelp`s victory.
Hence one of his favorite movies is "Without limits" is it easy to believe in his skills for which it is hard to define limits.
