Milorad Cavic will compete under the flag of Serbia next year at the European Championships in Budapest (from August 4 - 15, 2010).
Our best swimmer earlier announced that he will miss the upcoming European Short Course Swimming Championship in Istanbul, and he used free time to undergo the surgery of the nose. According to his coach, Peter Popovic, it is a minor surgery.
- It was about a small deviation of the nose, which cause him breathing difficulties. He was not previously operated because we did not know what was the real problem, but still, he managed to use a little free time he had to solve that problem. Surely it is going to be far much easier for him in the pool now - Popovic thinks.
Asked whether he had the nose surgery before the World Championship in Rome, the outcome of the race with Phelps would be different, Popovic answers:
- Oh, no. I do not believe that anything would be different. We do not want to make any such calculations, but I repeat that now Cavic certainly will be better.
