Swimmers marked also 2009

Olympic Committee of Serbia as the best in 2009 declared the World Champions Nadja Higl, Milorad Cavic and water polo team of Serbia, while the best women's team is the volleyball team. In comparison to 2008, there is an only one change the change, Nadja Higl instead Jelena Jankovic.

Higl at the World Championship in Rome won gold in 200 meter breaststroke, Cavic won the championship in the race at 50 meters butterfly, and later took silver in double longer share the same style, while the Serbian water polo team became the planetary champion and at the first appearance at the WC with this name. The volleyball players won the first edition of the European League and dominated at the qualifications for the World Championship 2010 , where they placed as the first ranked team.

- For me it is a great honor to again receive this recognition. In 2010 I do not know what to promise, because there is only the European Championship. When I say only, that's because Michael Phelps won't be there - Milorad Cavic said, who was declared the best athlete of Serbia for the second time in a row.

Swimmer Nadja Higl is currently at the competition in St. Petersburg, but with the recorded message she thanked the Olympic Committee of Serbia.

- Thank you for this recognition. This is a great honor for me. Of course, I will continue to defend the colors of my country as I have defended. I will give my maximum in every race and I hope that it will be also enough the next year to be declared the best athlete - concluded Higl.
